The briefing

The FCC handed Amazon a regulatory reprieve and a warning in its June 5 order. The commission waived the July 30, 2026 milestone to deploy half of Amazon Leo's 3,232-satellite Gen 1 constellation, citing more than $10 billion of investment and the public interest in a second broadband network. Only 331 satellites are on orbit, about 10% of the plan, and Amazon blamed a rocket shortage sharpened by the grounding of New Glenn and Vulcan. Gen 1 satellites launched after the missed deadline temporarily lose spectrum priority until Amazon catches up, an opening for SpaceX. The 2029 full-deployment deadline stands.

European launch capital advanced. Isar Aerospace closed a €270 million ($312 million) Series D led by Island Green Capital and Molten Ventures, with HV Capital, Lakestar, UVC Partners and KfW Capital joining, to expand Spectrum production toward 40 vehicles a year and pursue launch sites beyond Andøya, including a letter of intent at Maritime Launch's Spaceport Nova Scotia. Xona Space Systems is deploying its $170 million Series C into the Pulsar PNT constellation with Canadian government partners, and UK startup NewOrbit raised an $18.5 million Series A led by Voyager Ventures for a VLEO satellite line, first flight in 2028.

Redwire opened a $500 million at-the-market equity program with Truist Securities, J.P. Morgan, BofA and eight other agents, naming working capital, debt repayment, acquisitions, and R&D as uses of proceeds. Quantum Space, founded by Kam Ghaffarian, said it will go public through a merger with Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. VI. And in Indonesia, fleet operator PSN confirmed it was the unnamed Rocket Lab Electron customer two years ago, with six equatorial IoT and direct-to-device satellites already in orbit as the seed of a sovereign constellation.

FCC waives Amazon Leo July deadline with spectrum-priority penalty

SpaceX

The Federal Communications Commission granted Amazon a waiver of its July 30, 2026 requirement to deploy half of the 3,232-satellite Amazon Leo constellation, with only 331 satellites in orbit and the company citing a lack of available rockets after the grounding of Blue Origin's New Glenn and ULA's Vulcan. The order temporarily demotes spectrum priority for any Gen 1 satellites launched after the missed milestone, keeping pressure on Amazon's pace while leaving the July 2029 full-deployment deadline in place.

Isar Aerospace raises €270 million for Spectrum production and new pads

Munich-based Isar Aerospace closed a €270 million ($312 million) Series D with new investors Island Green Capital and Molten Ventures joining HV Capital, Lakestar, UVC Partners and KfW Capital. The company will scale Spectrum small-launch production toward 40 rockets a year at its factory near Munich and expand beyond Andøya Spaceport in Norway, including a letter of intent announced May 26 with Maritime Launch Services to use Spaceport Nova Scotia.

Quantum Space announces SPAC merger with Inflection Point VI

Quantum Space announced June 8 it will go public through a merger with Inflection Point Acquisition Corp. VI, the same SPAC sponsor that took Intuitive Machines public in 2023. New CEO Jim Bridenstine, the former NASA administrator named to the role last month, said the route to public markets is about speed and capital to meet military demand and pointed to a mix of organic growth and M&A as the company prepares to launch its first Ranger space tug mission next year.

Indonesia's PSN confirms it was Rocket Lab's mystery Electron customer

RKLB

Pasifik Satellit Nusantara CEO Adi Rahman Adiwoso said the Indonesian operator was the previously unnamed customer on a Rocket Lab Electron mission from New Zealand about two years ago, with six equatorial-orbit IoT and direct-to-device satellites placed as the start of a sovereign Indonesian constellation. PSN, historically focused on broadband links to underserved areas, is now positioning the fleet as a national IoT and D2D layer.

Xona deploys $170M Series C into Arctic PNT with Canadian partners

Xona Space Systems, which closed a $170 million Series C, expanded its Canadian work with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and the National Research Council to distribute Canada's official UTC time standard through its Pulsar low-Earth-orbit PNT network. Xona launched its first production satellite in June 2025, plans four more this year toward a 258-satellite constellation, and received an additional $850,000 investment through Defence Research and Development Canada's Canadian Safety and Security Program.

NewOrbit raises $18.5M Series A for VLEO satellite production

UK startup NewOrbit closed an $18.5 million Series A led by Voyager Ventures, with Atlantic, Lifeline Ventures, LGF and Illusian returning alongside angel investors including former NVIDIA Chief Scientist David Kirk. The funding supports development of the NEO-1 satellite targeting a first flight in 2028 and a planned NEO Production Complex that will build up to 10 satellites a year initially, with capacity goals beyond 100 spacecraft annually.
