The briefing

MDA Space is buying 70% of French Earth-observation analytics firm Collecte Localisation Satellites for roughly $920 million in cash, with French space agency CNES retaining the remaining 30%. CEO Mike Greenley told investors the deal creates a vertically integrated analytics platform pairing MDA's radar satellites with CLS's downstream data services, and CFO Guillaume Lavoie said the two recent deals, CLS plus the $620 million Blue Canyon acquisition, carry a combined cost of roughly C$2 billion, backed by fully committed bank financing.

To pay for CLS, MDA upsized a bought-deal share offering to 23 million shares at $35.60 apiece, raising about $819 million in gross proceeds through a syndicate led by BMO and RBC. Closing is expected in late 2026 or early 2027.

Blue Origin is finalizing its first-ever outside capital raise, seeking about $10 billion at a $130 billion valuation with Coatue Management leading the round. CEO Dave Limp confirmed the effort in an internal memo, and prior reporting puts Jeff Bezos in for roughly $2 billion and Coatue for about $4 billion alongside other institutions. The financing lands as the company works to return New Glenn to flight by year-end after the May 28 pad explosion, and follows Bezos's May comments that Blue Origin finally had enough visibility into its future to bring on outside investors.

The Space Force has completed the biggest overhaul of its acquisition organization since the service stood up, replacing program-centric buying with nine mission-focused Portfolio Acquisition Executives spanning Space Access, Missile Warning and Tracking, Satellite Communications and PNT, Electromagnetic Warfare and Cyber, and Space Combat Power, among others. The same day, Space Systems Command declared L3Harris's Meadowlands ground-based satellite-communications jamming system operationally accepted, and Voyager Technologies picked up a multi-million-dollar contract for an agentic-AI spectrum operations platform on an undisclosed program.

MDA Space to acquire 70% of French EO analytics firm CLS for $920M

MDA

MDA Space agreed to buy 70% of Collecte Localisation Satellites from its French parent for roughly €567 million (about $920 million) in cash, with CNES retaining a 30% stake. CEO Mike Greenley said the deal creates a vertically integrated Earth-observation platform combining MDA's radar satellites with CLS's downstream analytics for more than 14,000 customers. CLS reported €203 million of 2025 revenue, and closing is expected in late 2026 or early 2027 subject to regulatory approval.

Blue Origin lines up $10B raise at $130B valuation led by Coatue

Blue Origin is preparing to raise about $10 billion in its first outside funding round at a $130 billion valuation, with Coatue Management leading and Jeff Bezos contributing roughly $2 billion. CEO Dave Limp confirmed the effort in an internal memo to employees, saying it reflects confidence in the company's mission and strategy. The round comes as Blue Origin works to return New Glenn to flight this year after its May 28 pad explosion and scale a satellite constellation and lunar program.

Space Force completes acquisition overhaul into nine mission portfolios

The Space Force finalized its largest-ever acquisition reorganization, replacing program-centric buying with nine Portfolio Acquisition Executives covering Space Access; Space-Based Sensing and Targeting; Missile Warning and Tracking; Infrastructure; Battle Management, Command, Control, Communications and Space Intelligence; Satellite Communications and PNT; Advanced Capabilities; Electromagnetic Warfare and Cyber; and Space Combat Power. A June 22 memorandum signed by Thomas Ainsworth gives portfolio leads authority to trade requirements across whole mission areas and lean harder on commercial technology.

L3Harris Meadowlands satcom jamming system operationally accepted

LHX

The Space Force declared L3Harris's Meadowlands system operationally accepted, moving the mobile, ground-based radio-frequency jammer from development into full mission-ready status with the 4th Electromagnetic Warfare Squadron. The system is a compact, transportable variant of the Counter Communications System, allowing one operator to run more simultaneous jamming missions and receive open-architecture software updates as adversary tactics evolve.

Voyager wins agentic-AI spectrum operations contract

VOYG

Voyager Technologies received a multi-million-dollar, one-year contract to deliver an agentic-AI spectrum operations platform for an undisclosed program. President Matt Kuta framed the work as a total spectrum operations platform supporting mission management, command and control, and intelligence exploitation across ground, sea, air and space systems, with an emphasis on explainable AI, human-machine teaming and modular open architectures aligned to US government mission-systems priorities.

Space Force awards Pulse Space $40M to advance laser power and data links

Pulse Space, a Bellevue, Washington startup founded in 2022, said the US Space Force awarded it a $40 million contract to mature laser-based technology for transmitting power and data between spacecraft. The award comes through the Missile Defense Agency's SHIELD IDIQ vehicle, positioning the technology alongside other capabilities expected to contribute to the Golden Dome missile-defense architecture. Pulse Space has previously partnered with Scout Space to demonstrate directed-energy transmission between spacecraft.
