OST Daily October 6, 2026 — Voyager Technologies won a $22.4 million award from the Pentagon's Strategic Capabilities Office to prototype small-satellite dispensers for the Space Force; Lockheed Martin gave Boeing a seven-year contract worth up to $14.7 billion to expand PAC-3 seeker production; and NorthStar Earth & Space fell 25% to $4.45 on its first day on the NYSE American.

The briefing

Voyager Technologies won a $22.4 million Other Transaction Agreement from the Strategic Capabilities Office of the Department of War to prototype small-satellite dispensers, with the aim of moving the technology to the U.S. Space Force. The flight-ready prototypes are meant to use payload capacity that launches would otherwise leave empty. Lockheed Martin issued Boeing an undefinitized seven-year contract worth up to $14.7 billion to expand production of seekers for the PAC-3 interceptor, following an April framework to triple seeker output.

NorthStar Earth & Space opened well below its $10 pre-listing valuation on the NYSE American and fell 25% on October 2 to $4.45 after shareholders of its blank-check merger partner, Viking Acquisition Corp. I, redeemed their shares at the last minute; the listing yielded about $25 million for payload launches in 2028. SpaceX shares rose almost 8% on Monday to $171.09, their highest since mid-June, after Morgan Stanley analysts set a $300 price target and pointed to Starship progress and the company's AI business.

NASA and SpaceX are targeting 8:05 a.m. EDT on Wednesday for Crew-12 to undock from the International Space Station (ISS), with splashdown off California planned for about 11:34 a.m. on Thursday. Gilat's Peruvian subsidiary signed a $28 million contract to upgrade broadband in the Ica region, more than 600 soldiers moved into the Army's first enlisted space operations specialty on October 1, and Open Cosmos said it plans to launch 96 satellites by late 2028.

Voyager wins a $22.4M Strategic Capabilities Office award to prototype small-satellite dispensers

VOYG

Voyager Technologies announced a $22.4 million Other Transaction Agreement with the Strategic Capabilities Office of the Department of War to prototype satellite deployment systems, with the stated objective of moving the technology to the U.S. Space Force. Voyager will deliver prototype but flight-ready small-satellite dispensers built to use payload capacity that launches would otherwise leave empty. Matt Magaña, president of the company's space, defense and national security business, said the goal is to give the Space Force tools to put more capability in orbit faster without displacing a launch's primary mission.

Boeing lands a seven-year PAC-3 seeker contract worth up to $14.7B from Lockheed Martin

BA LMT

Boeing said Lockheed Martin issued it an undefinitized seven-year contract worth up to $14.7 billion to expand production of seekers for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptor, which the Patriot air defense system fires at missiles and aircraft. The award follows a framework agreement Boeing reached with the Pentagon in April to triple seeker production, and Boeing has not disclosed quantities. Boeing said it began raising production and hiring at its Huntsville, Alabama, facilities earlier this year. Lockheed received a contract vehicle of nearly $59 billion for PAC-3 production in July.

NorthStar Earth & Space falls 25% to $4.45 on its first day on the NYSE American

NorthStar Earth & Space, which sells space situational awareness data collected from orbit, opened well below its $10 pre-listing valuation on its first day on the NYSE American and fell 25% on October 2 to $4.45 a share. The company went public by merging with blank-check company Viking Acquisition Corp. I, and Viking's shareholders redeemed their shares at the last minute. The listing yielded about $25 million, which NorthStar plans to put toward launching payloads in 2028.

04

SpaceX shares rise almost 8% to $171.09, their highest since mid-June

SpaceX

SpaceX shares rose almost 8% on Monday to close at $171.09, their highest since mid-June, after Morgan Stanley analysts called the stock cheap and set a $300 price target, citing future AI product releases, Starship progress and additional AI cloud contracts. The analysts pointed to the next Starship test flight and the third-quarter earnings report expected in late October, and wrote that catching the Starship upper stage on that flight could be the biggest positive catalyst since the initial public offering. The shares are up almost 60% from their low in early August.

Crew-12 is set to undock on October 7 for a splashdown off California on October 8

SpaceX

NASA and SpaceX are targeting no earlier than 8:05 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, October 7, for Crew-12 to undock from the ISS, pending weather, which would put NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev on course to splash down off the coast of California at about 11:34 a.m. on Thursday, October 8. The crew launched on February 13 and will have spent nearly eight months in orbit. Adenot, the first French woman to conduct a spacewalk, made three of them in 14 days for a total of 19 hours and 42 minutes.

Army moves more than 600 soldiers into its first enlisted space operations specialty

More than 600 U.S. Army soldiers moved into the new 40D Tactical Space Operations Specialist occupational specialty on October 1, chosen from nearly 3,000 applicants, Command Sgt. Maj. Rickey Jackson of Army Space and Missile Defense Command said. They are the enlisted counterpart to the 40A space operations officers the Army has had since 1999, and both groups now sit in the Space Operations Branch established in June. The Army previously filled enlisted space assignments by temporarily shifting soldiers from other specialties and lost that expertise when they returned to their home branch.
